1. AI formalises the proof of Fermat's Last Theorem in eleven days

   Anthropic used its Claude model to formalise the theorem’s proof in the Lean language — translating human argument into code a machine can verify from first principles. It generated over 13 million lines of code and verified 29,500 intermediate theorems in eleven days, against the five years mathematicians had expected.
