Supreme Court uses Article 142 to quash FIRs against student protesters
A three-judge Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on 1 September invoked Article 142 to close all FIRs over the July protests linked to the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. Bar Council of India cannot punish law students, rules the Supreme Court

Centre tells Supreme Court it will spend ₹24,000 crore on police modernisation
