UNEP sets out an 'overshoot, peak and decline' pathway for the 1.5°C limit
The UN Environment Programme, in a report released in Nairobi on 2 September, for the first time charted a detailed pathway for a world that temporarily overshoots the Paris Agreement’s 1.5 degrees Celsius goal. It warned of faster sea-level rise, coral reef collapse and food production declines of up to 14% by 2050 without adaptation.Source: The Hindu
UN General Assembly endorses the Equal Earth map projection
The General Assembly on 4 September adopted a resolution encouraging governments and institutions to replace the traditional Mercator projection with the Equal Earth projection, which represents Africa and other equatorial regions at their true relative size. India voted in favour.Source: The Hindu
